We Work With Over 240 Victorian Secondary Schools:
Rob Malpeli
Peak Phys Ed / The Knox School
"We started in the classroom where the team at METS covered key biomech concepts and reinforced what students knew whilst challenging them to apply this to real world examples. METS knew where to pitch their examples and where to provoke extended thinking and thus catered to all of my students. This continued during the practical demonstrations/discussions which were energetic, funny, linked back to previous concepts they had covered and most importantly accessible by all - they were able to demystify biomechanics for my students and they all felt much more at ease after engaging with the METS team."

Content Covered...

  • Kinematic principles shown using timing gates including speed & velocity. Data from the day will be provided for later use in class/SACs.
  • Newton's 3 laws explained using physics equipment.
  • Stability & Equilibrium using a force plate.
  • Impulse and momentum using a portable force plate and using a hockey push as an example.
  • Summation of momentum using a radar gun to show different throwing speeds based on technique used.
  • Angular momentum using the frictionless rotating platform
  • 3rd class levers & mechanical advantage.
  • Projectile motion.

Optional Extras (access for +$10 per student)

Extra #1

Electronic workbook containing exam-style questions

We've created a booklet containing multi-mark exam style short answer questions related to biomechanics and skill acquisition. Students will receive the electronic booklet (which is printable), and suggested answer guide.

Extra #2

Access to a ~90-minute unit revision video

This end-of-unit revision video covers the entire U3 AOS 1 study design. Delivered as a screen-recorded powerpoint presentation, we practically apply the entire U3 AOS 1 study design for those students who prefer to learn through application rather than theory. Whether used as revision before your SAC, or as end-of-year exam revision, all students will receive access to this resource to use as they please.

The Data You Receive Looks Like This...

Showing a student's line of gravity whilst standing on 1 foot on the force plate.

Measuring the force and time components of impulse by jumping off a chair onto a force plate with bent legs (left) and straight legs (right).

20-meter sprint time under varying conditions: normal, weighted vest, socks only, and arms crossed.

Demonstrating summation of momentum using a baseball with an inbuilt accelerometer.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does your service cost?
$850 excl GST for up to 20 students. +25/pp for numbers >21.
What does the school need to supply?
A large open space (such as an indoor basketball court) with a portable whiteboard. We will need hockey sticks + balls (ideally 1 sticks per person and 1 ball between 2).
We only have a 60 minute class. Can we still book the demonstration?
Yes.
Can we book this service at any time during the school year?
Yes, we take bookings at any time during the year subject to availability. Our availability will show up when you click the "Book Online" button below.
We're a regional/country school, can we still book your services?
Yes, subject to availability. If you're further than 100km from the CBD, you'll need to email luke@metsperformance.com to inquire about availability to ensure we allow enough travel time.
Our school requires your proof of insurance and a WWCC on file, can you supply these?
All of our compliance forms can be downloaded here.
How do you take payment?
We'll send you an invoice upon your booking being accepted.
Do you offer any other testing services?
Yes, all our services can be accessed here.
I have a small class, can we bring our students to your facility?
